Mouse Hunt

While we were in the bathroom yesterday doing this,

I heard strange noises coming from the family room. I immediately grabbed my camera (as any self-respecting blogger would do) and went to investigate, leaving two nekkid kids coloring eggs in the tub.

Hmmm. This looks rather suspicious. These two don't normally get within several feet of each other.

Notice how far Jose is leaning. He is too chicken to get any closer. But Noodles is right in there after something.

ACK! She has a mouse! Eek! Kill it, kitty. Sink your fangs in.
Whatever you do, Noodles, don't drop the mouse! (Notice how Jose is oblivious to what has just happened. He is still expecting the mouse to saunter out through the barn doors.)
NO KITTY! You dropped it. BAD KITTY! Get it! Get it!

(Jose, for the love of pete...quit staring at the barn doors! Mousie has moved on!)

Now they've got it cornered behind the tractor. There's no way one little mouse can escape two savage beasts, right? (At this point, I am standing on the top of the couch holding my breath.)

(Warning: The video you are about to watch contains an embarrassing amount of grunting and squealing, as well as an appearance by two nekkid egg colorers. But surprisingly, no cursing.)

So the mouse is still at large and Jose and Noodles are living with the shame of letting it escape. Actually, they couldn't care less. But I am walking around on tiptoes knowing the stupid mouse is in this house somewhere. *sigh* The joys of country living...

Of Easter Past

I played my Bad Mommy card yesterday and took the kids to daycare while I had the day off from school. Some of you are probably thinking how awful I am. Others are probably jealous. In my defense, I had a million things to do and most of them involved running errands and preparing Easter baskets. Once my children see their loot, they will quickly forget that I needlessly abandoned them.

Speaking of Easter, I found some old Easter pics while I was wasting time on the computer doing important work.

This has become our standard way of coloring eggs...nekkid in the bathtub. I know it looks ridiculous, but I take no chances when dye is involved.

One thing about Easter in Indiana...you NEVER know what the weather will be. Apparently it was warm in 2006. Violets are edible, right?

The warm weather apparently produced some big freaking Easter eggs that year, too! This was Little Miss's first Easter. She must have been about 6 1/2 months or so. Oh, I can't believe she was ever that little!
We decided to recycle her Easter dress. Do you see it?

Yep! It's the lamp shade! My crafty momma turned the skirt into an adorable lampshade. Cute and sentimental at the same time!

These are some of my all time favorite pictures of Cole. He was about 5 months old and my mom was still watching (and humiliating!) him. Just look at that pathetic little look!

"What are you lookin at, Bunny Boy?"

We tried to do similar humiliating adorable pictures with Claire during her first Easter but sadly...her big ol' head wouldn't fit through the egg!

I hope you all have a wonderful, restful Easter weekend full of family, friends, love, and chocolate bunnies.

We have a winner!

Time is up! And believe it or not, I am up late enough to announce the winner! :) After removing a couple duplicate comments, I called upon the now-famous Random Integer Generator. I typed in the parameters...1-118 and it pulled:

Congrats, Caroline! Email me with your address and I will ship your basket of goodies out ASAP!

Thanks for playing, everyone!

Bear With Me

We had Jose neutered yesterday. Once we got him home, he was very happy to find that I had let the laundry pile up yet again so that he could curl up and rest...and most likely wonder where in the hello kitty his balls had gone.

Sorry, buddy. But it's for your own good.

Cole had a visit to the fire station last week with my mom and husband. (Long story-let's just say it was yet another Mother of the Year moment I had while driving around for a school meeting crying as I tried to coordinate someone, anyone, to get my little guy to the fire station.) It all worked out, as it usually does, and he had a wonderful time.

My little town does not have a Target. I know, for real! But, the town about 30 minutes away where I spend the majority of my time does. And guess what? They are expanding their grocery section! This makes me a very happy person. Because now I don't have to drive an hour away for special "Target only"foods like these. And I nearly died on the spot from the cuteness of these raisins. Look how tiny. The box on the right is a little individual size box. The box on the left is like a mini-me box. Like seriously I think it holds 6 raisins. Who knew a box of raisins could be so freaking cute?!

Do you ever get to the grocery store and wonder, "Do we have ______? Or should I pick some up?" You can fill the blank in with anything: a gallon of milk, bread, butter, etc. Appparently I need to open my refrigerator once in awhile.

I give you exhibit A.

Why yes, that is 7 containers of sour cream. Don't ask. I have no idea.

You have 2 (count them...2!) days left to enter my "spring has sprung" giveaway. (What a joke...spring has sprung. It's about 28 degrees!) Nevertheless, if you haven't yet entered for the basket o' goodies, click here.

Now if you will excuse me, I am off to finish Friday Night Knitting Club. It was a little slow going at first, but has gotten better and I am determined to finish it tonight!

John Deere Heaven

If you're looking for my spring giveaway, click here.

All the playgrounds in the world can't compare to Daddy's work. Toys, tractors, combines, loaders...the poor kid has so much to look at he doesn't even know where to start. And mommy likes it because this controlled environment is much more safe (and less smelly!) than the farming work that they do.

Edited to add: First of all, I need to apologize to the people in the Midwest. About an hour after I posted this "It's finally spring" giveaway, I saw the weather report. Yeah. Here's Monday's forecast-

High: 38°Low: 30°

Light Snow

Flurries & snow showers

But, the giveaway goes on!

Secondly, apparently I need to be more thorough with my rules and regulations. Some people (coughSteffcoughcoughDeb) are anal and need firm guidelines. So here they are:

I think that covers it. Now go forth and comment! But only once, you big cheaters.

Apparently the joke's on me

My alarm clock was the first thing to play an April Fool's Joke on me. I am usually walking out the door at 6:30 a.m. Today? I got UP at 6:30 a.m. Oh for the love of pete do I hate waking up late! It throws the whole day off. Needless to say I raced around here like a mad woman. We left the house at 7:00. I know...I have NO idea how I managed to get ready so quickly.

The next joke? My students put my coffee in the refrigerator while one of them was distracting me. So sneaky, these kids.

Then my principal told me I was fired. Apparently several of my students caught him first thing this morning begging him to play along with their plan. Ha.

Luckily I had a half-day meeting so I was able to avoid further harrassment from the kids. Little did I know I would have more to deal with.

Last Saturday, Jose went out to potty and never came back. I expected him to come home but as the hours, then days went by...I began to realize he probably wasn't going to. I have to admit, I missed the little guy. He would always curl up next to me on the couch and sleep under the covers at my feet each night. Except for a few potty accidents, he's such a sweet dog.

I decided to check the animal shelter today after my meeting as a last resort.

$88 later, I had my little puppy back!

That's right...I had to bail him out of puppy prison. Apparently someone picked him up and dropped him off at the shelter on Sunday. One pickup charge, four overnight visits, a rabies shot later and he was back at home, where he belongs. He is SO happy to be at home, curled up against my leg.

Note to self: Get.him.neutered.

How about you? Any good April Fool's jokes? Can you believe this post has no pictures?
