The garbage bowl. Rachael Ray has talked up the garbage bowl forever it seems. I wasn't all that convinced that a separate bowl for scraps as you cook would be helpful. Are you ready for a rare moment? I was wrong. There. I said it. It turns out my mom had a bowl from her mom that she was getting rid of as it didn't have a lid. Lo and behold it looked JUST like Rachael's garbage bowl. So, I took it home with me and tried it out. It makes a huge difference. No more messy counters or back and forth to the trash can. It really does save time and space as you prepare a meal. And those of you who have been reading my blog know I am working on using my Crock Pot more now that school is out. So, I used my garbage bowl this morning as I prepared my meal. Check it out.
This is Rachael's bowl available here for $17.95. Does your bowl need to look like this? Um, no.
This is my garbage bowl full of potato and onion peels, as well as a few wrappers.
And this is the savory meal I was able to put together in no time thanks to my garbage bowl.
The garbage bowl. It works for me.
The garbage bowl. It works for me.
Look at you!! I keep seeing those Rachel Ray bowls and kind of wanting one. I could use a mixing bowl I have around here, but I like the speckled ones. I'm going to go to the thrift store today and see if I can find one.
ReplyDeleteI use a garbage bowl...it's just easier. I didn't realize other people didn't do it :-) I can't believe they sell a bowl just for garbage. Umm...anything will work! I am looking forward to a verdict on those crock pot recipes!
ReplyDeleteThat is such a good idea. Man, Rachel can sell anything.
ReplyDeleteI love my garbage bowl! I found one at a thrift store shortly after seeing Rachel's show. Have you noticed that she used to use one of those antique Texas ware bowls, and now she's selling her own version? I like the old ones, myself.
ReplyDeleteYour dinner looks delightful; BrownBear is in the kitchen right now, rustling up some grub - she has insisted on learning how to cook and I am going to let her.
ReplyDeleteI thought a garbage bowl was the sink.
Don't forget to post your delicious crockpot recipes.

ReplyDeleteI use a plastic bag in the sink. But we're city folk with limited counter space. LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat did you make?
I'm not really cook so I haven't done this. It is a good idea though, will have to try it. I always watch Rachel doing it, but thought it was because of tv, lol. That is funny how similar yours is.
ReplyDeleteI love that idea! We're wanting to start composting and putting scraps of food and other organic things in a bowl while I'm cooking would be a great way to start doing that! Thanks for the tip!
