Got a minute?

Whew. It's been a few days and I have so much to share with you good people. We had beautiful weather this weekend which we all appreciated very much considering our summer is coming to a close at lightning fast speed.

We spent Sunday at our family's farm. There is an awesome area back behind the farm fields where we spend many weekends during the summer. We spend a lot of time riding 4-wheelers and Gators, sitting around talking, and cooking over the fire. The best part of the place is the creek. It's very beautiful and peaceful down there. Here are the steps that lead to the creek.

Some of the more adventurous "walk the creek" in wading shoes and walking sticks. Others of us enjoy sitting in a lawn chair drinking beer.

Farm Guy and the kids had a wonderful time splashing around. The wetter they got, the more fun they were having.

The doggies love the creek almost as much as the kids do.

The kids especially love to try to splash Mommy.

Cole got a little overzealous with the splashing and took a tumble.
A few cherries later he was as good as new.
*********************************************************************
I had a dentist appointment today. I have been having a little pain so I was expecting to hear that I have a cavity. Um, no. I have 2 teeth that are apparently cracked around old fillings and have to get crowns for them. I was all like, "Seriously?" I just couldn't believe it. I am a little nervous so those of you with crowns, keep your horror stories to yourself please. I just want to hear that it isn't bad and I will be fine. K?

*********************************************************************

Before my appointment, I had a little time to kill so I ran to Wal-Mart. You will never guess what I bought. Here it is!

I was getting tired of listening to Heather, Tiffany, and Lula going on about these books and me feeling left out. I do not like to be left out. So, I bought the first book. I have no idea what it's about or why I should read it but I am hoping it will fill the void that J.K. Rowling left in my heart after I finished the 7th Harry Potter book. I am on page 10 so pretty much all I know is that there is a girl who has moved to Forks with her dad. Girls, are you excited for me?

***********************************************************************
I worked at school today. I got a lot done, but still feel like there is a ton more to do. I am not overwhelmed yet. But give me a few more days. I am going back in without the kids on Thursday. I hope that will be the last day before my actual first day next Wednesday. I cannot even imagine what it would feel like to wait to do any school work until the actual first day. I wonder if there are teachers who actually do this. I would have a heart attack. And drink. Heavily.

***************************************************************************

Tune in again tomorrow. I have a bloggy award to pass on. I also got tagged by Scargosun for an m word. (I hate that word and refuse to say it, but I love to do them.) AND, another Crock Pot meal that is d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s. See you tomorrow.

I like your post label. lol Don't think of it as a vampire book per se as much as a love story. An intense one. It's awesome. Enjoy reading it!!

I love going to a farm, playing in the creek. Looks like you guys had a nice weekend! I though that was blood for a minute but whew, only cherries. :o)

Your creek is gorgeous. (And so are the inhabitants!). I love all the rock in it. My kids spend so much time down at our creek...they have to have special clothes because of the "stank."

So glad you are on the Twilight bandwagon. I am anxious to hear what you think of it.

What a fun weekend!
Love all of the pictures : )

Great post, love the pics of the hooligans and mutts. Thanks for the update !! you are very accommodating. LOL

I love your photos!!!

Nothing more fun, on a hot day, that wading in a creek. Especially one that is shaded by trees. Bliss!!

I'm reading Twilight as well. However, I have currently misplaced it. Really annoying!!

I'm at a year round school, so we have been back for two weeks now. The Kindergarten classes started last week ... what a nightmare. Walked into class on Thursday and the teacher started crying when she saw me, as she was so relieved I'd come in. A kid had kicked, bitten, hit and spat at her the day before. We seem to have more than our fair share of problem kids this year...

Love all the pics of the creek....that looks like fun. Although when I first saw the picture of Cole after eating the cherries....I thought it was blood and I was freaking out for all of you! Whew! I need to scroll slower so I don't jump to conclusions.

I just started Twilight as well....however, I know you love Harry Potter as much as I do. So far (and don't tell anyone else) this has nothing on Harry Potter. Just my opinion....not that its not good...it is(I'll probably still get a lot of haters now) :(

So much fun. You guys have a beautiful piece of heaven!

I'm getting the Twilight bug as well. Only thing is, when to read, with all the bloggin' and such.

Your place is just beautiful I think I would live down at the creek if I could.
I hope you like the Twilight series, my mom got tired of being left out with my sister & I so she borrowed my Twilight book & has started it.
I really hope she like it.
I'm totally obsessed I was one of those women sitting in line at barns & noble waiting for the book to go on sale at 12:01.
I've been to busy with kids & sick kids to start it yet but I'm planning a bubble bath with a locked door tonight!

The creek looked fun. The dentist - not so much. And I hear that Twilight is good - but that's Lula's word for it and I don't know how much I believe crazy people. Nah, they almost have me convinced to read it.

I love the photos, especially the one of your son with the dirty seat of his pants for all to see! Hang in there at school, and remember--You're older than they are, and much, much wiser! That little bit of advice has gotten so many teachers through the tender years...BTW, Uncle Lynn has authorized another Great Pop'rs Giveaway--it starts tomorrow, so stay tuned!

I love that creek--great pics! Crack up at your lawn chair and beer!
I was *this* close to reserving Twilight at the library, just to see if it lived up to the blogging hype. Now I can trust you'll let me borrow yours! :)
Good luck with the teeth. I've had a root canal or 2, but hopefully your repairs won't be that drastic. Or painful.

Karen-A biter and a spitter? SO glad I do not teach kindergarten. I could not deal with such drama. Hope your week improves and the kids settle into the groove quickly.

Kat-Luckily ours doesn't have quite the stank but I did bring extra clothes so the kids didn't have to sit in the wet clothes for long. Lord only knows what's in that water!

Marilyn-Thanks! It was a great weekend! Swimming and fishing on Saturday, "creeking" on Sunday!

Rhea and Z's mom-It's funny when I posted the cherry pic after the "fall" pic it never occurred to me it would look like blood! Rest assured there was no blood...just delicious cherries!

Z's mom-I agree. I don't know that anything will ever compare to Harry Potter. Maybe this series will at least give me that "something to look forward to" feeling. We shall see...

Sassy Steph-I KNOW! I only read at night right before bed. Sometimes I fall asleep after only a few pages, other times I stay up too late reading.

TInabean-It's funny I had never heard of this book before reading it on some blogs. I am anxious to get to bed and keep reading. I will let you know what I think!

Caroline-Yeah, not looking forward to the dentist, that is for sure. I am looking forward to reading Twilight tonight. I will let you know what I think...then you will have a non-crazy person's opinion. :)

Veggie mom-Thanks for the advice!

Scargosun-It is a beautiful place. I promise I will post my 7 things tomorrow!

Deb-You can definitely borrow Twilight when I'm done. I put Mercy by your door...it's a Jodi Picoult. And please remember that kind gesture when you see the folders full of 4th grade field trip crap that I am passing along from Julie. K?!

I was worried for Cole for a second. I thought he'd busted his lip...then I read the caption.

Ahh, the glorious work days before school starts when you get tons accomplished and feel like you can rule the world. Then come the kids.... Alas, I remember those days, all too fondly.

Have I been living under a rock, because I do NOT know who this Stephanie Meyer is and why she is important. I must be really out of the loop.

John Deere Mom said...

Lindsay-Apparently everyone thinks Cole hurt his lip! I guess I shouldn't have posted that picture so close to the fall picture!
The work days before school actually starts are the best days of the year. I get SO much accomplished. The classroom is clean and organized. If only I could be a teacher with no students. That would be a sweet deal.
I had never heard of the books either. Then I started reading a few blogs and there is a crazy following for them. I will let you know what I think of the first book!

P.S. I tagged you for a meme :)

Can I come and camp at your creek? It is so pretty. I too, am going to get the BOOK that everyone is raving over.

I have a bridge and 1 cap. The numbing shot is the worst part. It's still not fun though. You'll be fine : )

Your creek area looks so peaceful, serene, and FUN! Beautiful pictures.

The crowns? I have some. When I go to the dentist for a crown, I think , hey, I'm getting crowned..I get to be queen for the day. It puts a totally different perspective on it. I've had a couple crowns with a root canal, and some plain old crowns. The root canal ones are more labor intensive and take more visits. But, overall, they're not a big deal! As long as you have a dentist that you like, you'll be just fine!

Mrs4444 said...

Angie, my only crown horror stories are the ones that come in the mail afterwards (the bills). BTW, I have a wonderful crock pot recipe that I found last week; Wild Rice with Fruit and Nuts. We made it as a dish to pass at our family reunion this weekend, and the whole pot disappeared in minutes. Let me know if you'd like it! :)

I keep hearing of these books, too. I am going to check the library.
I am so envious of the fact you live so close to a creek that is clean enough to wade in. It reminds me of my childhood.....

I can't wait to get the series, but I was waiting on the last one. I hate waiting for parts 2, 3, etc. I do the same thing with Nora Roberts.

Loved reading about your creek adventures. The guy I've started seeing has 2 boys and they LOVE playing with my dog in my creek, and taking her down to the river. I think my days of quiet "me" time are very numbered!

Thanks for coming by my site. I felt a little left out too, so that's why I went and bought the first 'Twilight' book too. I am about 3/4 through it.

I love the photos of the creek it looks like all of you are having a great time.

Deanna said...

OH! Wal-mart has Twilight?? I must go by there this evening...my curiosity can't take not reading this book anymore.

I love the creek pictures! What a nice spot to enjoy the outdoors.

Every time you talk about working at school getting ready brings back memories of helping my mom prepare her classrooms. And the smell of dust, pledge, markers, and books.

I love your recipes...keep 'em coming!

I've been feeling that Harry Potter void lately as well. Perhaps I'll have to check this out.

The creek photos are beautiful and peaceful.

Crowns aren't that bad...I had two in April.

The first in the Twilight series is great...working on the second.

Overwhelmed? Um, yeah.....

Waiting for that crock pot recipe...

Welcome to the Twilight bandwagon. I jumped on last week and so far it's great. I've finished Twilight and started on New Moon. I went ahead and bought all four because I knew I would want to read them all after starting Twilight.

I can't wait to hear what you think!

Say good bye to life, hire a sitter and get "Alice" out of storage cause if you are like the rest of the women that started on Twilight, for the next 3 days you are out of commision till you have devoured them all.

Loved the new look by the way and what a fun way to spend Sunday.

When can I come over and play?

Your polka dots are adorable.

Email me when you finish Twilight so we can obsess....

I love both your new look and the pictures on this post. The pictures just scream LIFE IS GOOD. Thanks for sharing them.

My entire comment was just deleted by a PITA 3 yr old hitting Esc. Then I retyped it, but it's still not showing and I'm too lazy. :)
Thanks for Mercy. Thanks for the folder. We'll talk field trips eventually.

I love your photographs.

Okay okay, I have heard so much about this book that it's high time I go out and get it for myself ;)

John Deere Mom said...

Mamahut-I agree the numbing shot is the worst part of getting a cavity but I do NOT want to feel any pain so I take the shot willingly.

Minyo-What a great way to look at it! Maybe I will wear a little tiara to my appointment. ;)

Mrs. 4444-I know you won't read this but I am responding to you anyway. The bills for the crowns? I was really dreading it but my plan is wonderful and pays 80% up to $1500 which is about what it's going to be. I was glad to see 80% because I was expecting 50%!

Linda-I hope the creek is clean enough. We made sure to shower well just in case!

Sheri-Yay for the new guy! Hope things are going well.

Thotlady-You are about half way through but you didn't mention what you think about it...come on...inquiring minds want to know.

Deanna-I long for the days when my kids are old enough to help me out in my classroom. As it is, they just wreck everything I've done so I don't bring them very often!!

Beth-I agree. I miss HP. I think I will start rereading the entire series when I am done with this one.

Rph momm-Thanks! They make me smile too. Especially when they're in bed.

Sidney-Ooh, I am glad to hear from someone who recently had crowns and is still alive.

Brandy-It's obvious I have a lot to learn about this series because I thought there were only 3 books!

The Queen-Is it wrong I don't get the Alice comment?

Tiffany-Thanks! I will email you periodically as I read the book so you can relive the "first time" through me. ;)

Christy-Thanks! Right now, life IS good. Glad it showed.

Deb-Is it sad that I knew right away what PITA stood for? I had a couple of those all day in the car today. We ran to Greenwood again for absolutely no reason except that I knew I wanted to get out of the house!

Amanda-Thanks! I am embarrassed to say I still haven't gotten beyond page 10 in Twilight. I am trying to finish a book I had started but might have to give that one up!

Lula got me addicted to the TWILIGHT series- I am 1/4 into NEW MOON! I luv it- and I never thought I would be into vampires- It is so YUMMY!
