It's officially cold...

and I LOVE it. The high today was 37 and it's supposed to get down to 22 tonight! There have even been flurries the past few days. Woo hoo! I love winter and everything that comes with it. One of my favorite things about winter is being able to curl up in a sweatshirt and jammie pants, and still be comfortable enough to cuddle up under a blanket.

I love baking cookies and drinking hot cocoa. Well, the kids and husband drink the hot cocoa...I have coffee.

I don't do a lot of decorating for Christmas, but I love putting out all my snowmen around the house. I am looking forward to getting help decorating the tree this year. We have a tall (9ft), skinny-ish artificial tree that goes in the corner of the living room. We always put it up the weekend of Thanksgiving. I love having it up early, but I take it down the day or two right after Christmas. Once it's over...it's over.

We don't put outdoor lights up, but I LOVE driving around looking at the lights. We have already found a few houses with lights up!

I love playing in the snow with the kids and watching the guys drive the tractor around shoveling snow from the driveway.

Then there's a little something called Christmas Break! As much as I love teaching and going to work everyday, those 2 weeks off are so fantastic. It's a great time to relax after the holidays, get some bargains at after Christmas sales, and just chill out with the fam.

What's your favorite thing about winter? The snow? The tree? The fact that it will be over soon?!

  1. My favorite thing about winter is the snow, riding four wheelers in it at the farm, watching hubby justify his tractor purchase by using it to clear the driveway. Sitting in the family room with just the outside corner lights on when it is snowing, looks like we are in a snow globe. And the cold weather, love it, if only the ground wasn't frozen I could do yard work with out getting so HOT !

  3. The snow? Are you on crack? That's just crazytalk. I think you and Delberta are officially psycho.
Have I told you lately how much I HATE winter? Except for break. That part is great!

  4. All of it, too!! The possibility of snow, the Christmas decorations, the food, the hot chocolate, the fancy coffee from Caribou Coffee and Starbucks, finding the right presents for the girls' stockings, and CHRISTMAS VACATION. OMG, I can't wait. Two uninterrupted weeks of not doing anything and two girls who are going skiing for Jesus for part of it. Amen.

  6. Snow, Christmas lights, and the general "happy" feeling that people seem to have around the holidays. Where I work looks the BEST at the holidays, and it's always a battle with my boss as to how long I get to have the decorations up.

  11. Christmas and everything that goes along with it...the break, decorating, presents, cold weather, etc...are just magical to me. I love it.

I guess if I lived in Australia things would be different though...it's summertime there. How weird - Santa in shorts.

  15. Ok, I've been stalking your blog and I love it. It makes me laugh and lightens my heart! I, too, love the winter. I like the cold and christmas decorating and all. You are such a good Mom, I don't know where you get the energy working full time outside the home and in.

  18. It is 29 degrees here, right now :( I'm not sure of what the low is supposed to be.

My fav thing about this time of year is snuggling up with a blanket, cup of hot cocoa, popcorn and a good movie. A perfect lazy saturday! :)

  19. I HATE cold weather! BUT I am in Floriday, we aren't supposed to have cold weather, so somebody needs to notify Mother Nature ASAP...tell her to get this cold crap out of here NOW! LOL

Normally I'm excited about Christmas, this year, for some reason I just don't feel it. UGH

  20. I love the beginning of winter... but by the end I am ready to wave good bye to it. I work at the school board so I too enjoy the same break you do. I love the music of the Christmas season, the annual tv programs, the spirit of the season and I too take down my tree the 27th (sometimes on boxing day depending on how lazy I am).

    Make it a great day!
