Winter Blanket

Winter Blanket

The snow is like a blanket that
God spreads across the land,

Where wheat and oats and barley sleep,
Awaiting God's command.

It covers all the pasture fields,
And hides the grasses brown:

It gives the bare, gray willow tree
A clinging, wooly gown.

It wraps around a fencepost tall,
And covers up its head,

Then drifts along the meadow banks
To tuck the creek in bed.

  1. Gorgeous pictures! I was going to say, I know you aren't now writing poetry. HA!
My yard is now a red, wet mess. But SS says it is supposed to get cold again this week. Lord help me if it ices again. I have had E.NOUGH.

  2. Love the pics... I was sitting here reading thinking MAN, JDM can write some poetry!!! :-)
I've had enough of this cold, though... I am ready for warmer, longer days -- I realized that I've worked exactly 6 days since a month ago and no wonder I'm about to go crazy... OMG. I never thought I'd ever say this, but I am actually looking forward to going to school to teach tomorrow!

  3. Deb-I cannot even imagine all the togetherness.
Mama H-I am not tired of the cold yet. But the frequent snow days do make it a little easier to go back to school!
Vanilla-Nice to put a face with the name. :)

  5. I too wondered about the poetry at first lol. My poems usually start with "There once was a man from..."

  8. These photos are lovely!

The snow we had last week... all EIGHT INCHES of it... is finally gone. I'm glad to see it go, but it's a little sad when it just starts to go away. Everything is brown and dirty and soggy... much prettier when it's a blanket of white!

  9. What stunning pictures!!! I can't believe it. Love them. It inspires me to go ahead and tromp through snow out here to find something to shoot. If only I had snowpants, or the urge :)

And yes, I am back.... :)

    Miss you!!!

  11. Ditto Delberta. You have all of this time on your hands and I can't even get a blog post. Really? Get with it, JDM!
