Shady Lanes

For the second time in my life, I went into a bowling alley this weekend.

My first time in a bowling alley was shortly after my husband and I started dating. I am pretty sure I spent most of the night tripping on a non-existent step and whispering to my cousin about how I could no longer feel my tongue.

I may or may not have had a few too many drinks.

Flash forward 12 years...I had to take Cole to a birthday party at the local bowling alley. I was hoping it was reserved for the party with no other patrons. No such luck. When we walked in, the smell of feet, greasy pizza, disinfectant, and smoke hit me in the face. It was dark and loud.

And the people. I had no idea people were so serious about bowling at 1:00 in the afternoon.

Thankfully, I was able to get Cole's shoes on, give him a quick hug and kiss, and get the heck out of there. The only problem?

He loved it.

And guess where he wants to have his next birthday party?

Oops! ha ha Our bowling alleys (and bars, etc) are no-smoking here - I'm SO glad! (not that I ever go, but if I did....)

I'm glad he had a good time, and having a birthday party out of the house has it's advantages.

Bowling is fun, it's just the shoes that suck! Have fun planning that party, now :)

We'll sooooo be there! Noah loves bowling! He heard a commercial on the radio this morning for the Big Brothers Big Sister bowling event and told me he needed to attend. ha!
I hadn't even thought of a party at the alley. Great idea!

Even though smoking has been banned at public places for several years now, you can still smell it at bingo halls and bowling alleys. Bowling is fun though!!

I LOVE bowling, but I could do without the smoke smell - when are they going to make those places smoke-free? This is just one of the many sacrifices moms make for their kids!

Ah, yes, BOWLING! My hubby and I bowl once a year for a charity thing. This year, we decided we would surprise the rest of our team and actually PRACTICE before we appeared on the night of the event and embarrassed ourselves and the rest of our group. Our town recently renovated a small b. alley...8 lanes. It was darling inside with the real retro decor plus...no stinky feet, no smoking (our town has outlawed smoking in all places!) and pretty family friendly...cept for the drunk (they serve booze and food there) two lanes over. Anyway, once that dude left, we had a ball. Our bowling was great! Unfortunately, the next night at the event...our scores stunk! I think we had used up our energy the night before. Well, that (cuz we're old and energy takes awhile to rebuild in old bodies) and the beers we enjoyed while bowling probably didn't help our aim! :) Oh, well, it was for a good cause!

Hope you are finished with snow days...and guess what. I'm going to have a bowling party for MY birthday at that cute b. alley! My breakfast group will love it! (maybe)

Did you know that they really wax the "alley" portion of the floor and IF you step a little bit OVER the line and fall into that SLIIPPERY waxed "alley"...it is REALLY hard to get up??!! I DO! My kids always loved bowling too. Have a super fun bowling Birthday party. Your son is just as cute as can be!
