Snow Day #5

We are currently on our fifth snow day of the year. Our school has two days built in. Let me do the math for you...that means we have 3 days to make up at the end of the year. Currently, that puts us at May 28. I am okay until we get to June. Once we get to June, this teaching momma gets crabby.

And despite being stuck in the house for 2 days straight, I am enjoying these snow days. They are really the first 2 days that have been truly SNOW days.

We had a couple days just after the New Year that didn't really amount to much. We ended up with a rain day last week...forecasters didn't quite have that storm timed out quite right.

But this week? We have had so much fun in the snow!

We went sledding at the hill behind the barn. The kids could have spent the entire day there...they loved it!

I finally had to make them get in the car to warm up...at which point the Little Miss realized just how cold she was!

Even the cows were cold!

The husband went out on the tractor (with no cab) to push the snow from the driveway. About 10 minutes into it, the winds picked up, it started snowing again, and at one point it looked like a blizzard. Hello, frozen husband!

(Doesn't he have cute lips?)

We had a little extreme backwards tractor driving...which didn't end well. If you look carefully, you can see two doggies frolicking in the snow. They just love to run in the snow, sticking their snouts down into it, chasing and wrestling each other.

Some of the smaller drifts made the perfect forts for snowball fights.

This little guy loves a good snowball fight!

Once the tractor is off and the snowball fights are over, I love how quiet and peaceful it is with a blanket of snow on the ground.

But then the kids start arguing or parachuting from the couch, and I realize...

I'm ready for spring.

I am so with you on the ready for spring. Or just dry weather. We are having a windy day today - with 60mph gusts! Can you imagine? The furniture on my deck is not where I placed it!

But your snow is so pretty! I just can't relate!

I am right there with ya girl!

As of yesterday, we had used 6 snow days. Only 4 were built into the calendar. Add in today through Friday, thanks to the 10-20" we're getting today, and now we're at 5 days over the cushion. The last day originally was June 14th. Who knows when they'll get out of school now!

Awesome pictures. Looks like around here too. We have 6 snow days built in. We are now at least 7 days over the 6! My boys have been home all week so far.

Sigh...we are already into June. What's next? Options: Saturdays, add on to June, days from Spring break. YUCK to all of it!

Love the pics! I'm such a wuss and have no desire to play in the snow. I never enjoyed it as a kid, and like it even less now.
A plow just went by, but it's soooo windy here. Maybe I'll see ya tomorrow???

Girl, I am still laughing, though it is simmering to a big smile. This is delightful and reminiscent of my life just 20 years ago....*sigh*

I won't let Eli get the tractors out in the snow, which he just doesn't understand because Grampy's tractors go in the snow.... anyway, we have had so many snow days, we are already at JUNE 8th for our last day!!!! Luckily I teach preschool, so we get out earlier!

Love the pictures! The snow seems never ending this year. Your poor hubby must have been frozen solid after pushing snow. Try to stay warm.

Don't feel bad...we don't get out of school until June 15th ON PURPOSE. We used to get out before Memorial Day and I much preferred that.

I feel like my kids are getting short-sticked here in Florida. We have no snow, they don't even know what it is.

But then I get cold when it is 67 degrees out so I am not complaining too much!

I win...my SCHEDULED last day of school is June 22. Snow is pretty though, we haven't had so much as a frost this year in Seattle.

I love your snow!!! I want...only a little bit, trust me. Just enough for some pictures, then it can all melt away. I wish I could order it that way.

And Little Miss' little red face. Oh my!!! :-)

I love those pics. I don't believe I have ever been as cold as they are.
Good luck with making up snow days. Wow, three so far.....does that mean there are possibly more?
