2010: The Year of the Toy

One of the many things my son inherited from his daddy is his love of tractor magazines. And farm newspapers. And farm classifieds. And tractor brochures. You get the idea.

Wednesdays are especially important around here as the weekly Farm World is delivered. I'm not sure who looks forward to it more.

But the most exciting day of the year is when the annual Ertl toy catalog arrives. When Cole gets his grubby little hands on it, he is content for hours.

We still have remnants of the 2008 and 2009 catalogs. Folded edges, creased pages, circled favorites, well-loved little pages of possibilities.

After looking through this year's catalog, he exclaimed, "This is going to be the best year of toys ever."

I have to admit, Learning Curve is coming out with some amazing new toys for the spring. The little man cannot wait to get his hands on the Power Drive Lift and Load Barn with Power Drive vehicles and the Gator Pit Adventure.

But the toy that really got him going? The 12 volt riding limited edition Gator HPX. It matches our real Gator! And he just "cannot live without it!"

If you would like your very own copy of the 2010 Ertl John Deere toy catalog, you can view and print one from here. You can get one from here for $0.99 with free shipping. Or most likely, you can get one from your local John Deere dealer.

Happy toy shopping!

That is so funny! My in-laws save all their farm mags, flyers, etc for Matt and he spends hours looking at them.

My nephew is planning to take over one of his dads farms after he is done highschool and they have already talked that Matt would be his hired man. Our nephew is in gr.9 and matt is in gr.1...so if he doesn't go to university and starts farming right out of h/s than matt is going to be the youngest hired man ever! LOL

I remember that with the Sears catalog! We lived on an Island without department stores, so Sears was IT for us. The first day of school was so funny because we all had the same coats, shoes, jeans...
The Christmas Wish Book was the best though FOR sure :)

Cute! My son is all about Transformers now. He even had a friend over this weekend and I actually forgot they were here because they were playing so quietly with all the Transformers.
Meanwhile we were able to get the dreaded diorama done. Different teacher but same junk. We just took his diorama from last year and made some adjustments for this year ... could be considered cheating but I felt the most important part of the assignment in 2nd grade was understanding the parts of a book (theme, plot, comprehending etc.) not the actual making of the diorama so I'm okay with it.

My boys are both hooked on all things farms and tractors! They also circle their favourites when looking through the ERTL catalogues!!!!!!!! Soo funny!

So cute! I think our sons might be long lost brothers! Eli carried around that catalog (and several other brochures) after our visit to John Deere World Headquarters last year! My husband saw your blog and said "Huh, that's Eli in about a year!".

He is so adorable!! Your husband is quite dashing too, but it's tough to compete with Cole.
