Since school let out on May something or other, I have had to set my alarm clock once. Yes, one time in 2 months I have had somewhere to go. This week, however, my alarm will be set every.single.day for a class I am taking to renew my teaching license. So not only will the kids and I be getting up early, the laundry will pile up, dishes will sit in the sink, and dinners will be lackluster at best. (But don't worry, I will still find time to blog. I do have my priorities straight.)
After this class, my summer will quickly come to a close and reality will rear its ugly head. Until then, I am going to try to enjoy this week of adult conversation and interaction. Hopefully avoid homework at all costs. Perhaps walk away from the class with a sense of excitement about the new school year. And definitely make the most of the last few weeks of summer vacation.

I have still been setting my alarm throughout the summer! Well, except the week & a half the boys were gone, but I did it just so that I could have that couple of hours alone, no kids asking for anything or whatever! I just didn't set it on the weekends, LOL
Ugh, I used to hate those stupid teacher meetings they'd make you take. So many hoops to jump through, just to learn them kids good ;) (Bad English intentional, I swear!) You have my sympathies this week!
I get the joy of professional development in a few weeks. Have you noticed that the worst students are teachers? I bet some of them are former Geniuses.
I know; don't you love that?! Sleeping in ROCKS! However, my alarm will be set for 5:30am tomorrow, as I, too, am taking a class. It's through Learner's Edge (correspondence), though, so at least I can still wear my pajamas "in class." Hee hee. I LOVE your new page!!!
I love the new pics at the top! (But I like the sepia and the wheat :-)
And it is getting to be that time again isn't it? I am going to be working on re-arranging our school room this week...and on Friday I am going to our Homeschool Expo to get some curriculum and whatever else strikes me.
Enjoy your adult time!
I can't believe how quickly the summer is passing. School is just around the corner.
I've had to wake up early here and there, but we are guilty of sleeping in a lot. It's going to be hard to get back into the swing of routine again. :o)
Yes ...school starts for us this Monday. All those bright, shining faces. :-)
I don't go in till Tuesday, but the teacher I work with that day, has already called to ask if I was still going to be coming in and she also mentioned that she had some stuff for me to do already :-)
Ugh. I hope it'll be worth your time. At the very least, my class had mad snacks!
Don't be getting all creative on me, either. I plan to do e.x.a.c.t.l.y what I did last year. Not additions. The only deletion will hopefully be such bitchy parents. Maybe. Or I'll just quit. Don't tempt me!
That is NOT FAIR. It's still July, so you are NOT allowed to talk about school yet. Someone asked me the other day when I go back, and I told them the exact same thing--"we're not allowed to talk about that yet". Sorry about your class. Sounds...well...horrible.
So not ready for school yet...thankfully ours reconvenes one month from TODAY.
Love your new look...and love that you're changing it up often. And seriously...I need to see your little Russian immigrant again, in all her glory.
Lane Boyz Mom-For me to get quiet, pre-kid morning time, I would have to get up early! I have my own little personal alarm clocks here. Usually Little Miss was set at 6:00, 6:30. The latest we slept in was 7:00 after a BIG day. There were days (pre-kids) when I could literally sleep until 9, 10:00. I cannot even IMAGINE that right now.
Lindsay-Thanks! I agree, they are usually awful. And this is one of those that I am taking because I HAVE to take it, not because I want to take it...
Kat-Have fun at your expo! Sounds fun!
Rhea-I have kept some sort of routine, mostly putting the kids to bed early and getting up early...which sometimes I regret!
Karen-Monday?! Today?! Oh, girl...I am so sorry for the loss of your summer!
Deb-I am going to have get some sort of creative juices flowing as I still have no idea what I am going to do!
Cupcake-I agree. We are the worst. There is no worse group to try to get to listen without eyes rolling than us. Makes me proud to have that great distinction.
Mrs. 4444-Hmmm wonder what the professor would think if I wore my pajamas to class?!
Chris-I agree! It's too early, but the reality of it will soon be smacking me in the face. Less than a month. :(
Lula! Thanks...I love the new look too. I needed something summery and bright. Have a wonderful day!
When I took that lovely class earlier this summer, I sat with teachers who had to be recommended by principals. Please. If this was the best in the county, heaven help us. Two of them at my table filled out the evaluation incorrectly. One of them put her own name on the form where it wanted the name of the teachers who had taught the class. I shook my head. Geniuses, indeed. And I'll be sitting in my first faculty meeting in 14 days. I'm just saying.
Wow, I'm so envious of the no alarm thing. I wanna be a teacher!
Seriously, if I had the money and time, I'd go back to school and get my teaching degree.
We are on year-round school, and having 3 kids 2 at one school, 1 at another on a different schedule, July is the only month I have all 3 home....I dream of sleeping in, unfourtunatly my girls have a built-in alarm clock of 6:30, no matter what time they go to bed the night befor!!
I can still dream of sleeping in....and im "happy" for you :(
Arrggh, thats what I hate about summer, it goes by to fast :(
I have something for you at the Farm!
I am with you, I cannot believe that summer is almost over and then reality in so many ways will rear its ugly head.
Love the new look by the way.
Oh, I remember the days of professional development--the girls had to attend classes with me sometimes, because summer babysitters were few and far between! Are you planning to go back to classroom in the fall? If so, good luck to you! BTW, I'm having another Great Pop'rs Giveaway, starting tomorrow. Aunt Julie really needs the help of all her Bloggy Pals--she's planning a rehearsal dinner for 60 people! Hope you drop by soon!
Love the wider columns, liked the sepia better for some reason, bought the JD cake pan for my little boy's 1st birthday (LOVE IT), here is my problem with your site...not that you care, but your main picture is to big! I have blog checking ADD and when I have 5 minutes to check, (I do like checking you out, you being fun and interesting and all) I pull you up and you make me scroll down to see if there is a new post. The scrolling down slows me down. Other than that, keep up the good work!
Oh man....summer is going by FAST. It didn't help that winter didn't want to let go and lingered FOREVER....
I'm jealous of you not having to get up early...so jealous....
