Crossing items off the list...

At the beginning of the summer, I made this list. A couple weeks later, I was able to cross some things off. Today, I have even MORE to cross of. Woo hoo!

Thirteen things I will do this summer.
1. Join a gym. I know. I know. I keep saying it...but I WILL do it. Tomorrow.
2. Replace the metal porch railing with white vinyl fencing.
3. Take the hideous border down and repaint the dining room.
4. Gravel one flower bed and mulch another.
5. Get the carpet in the family room cleaned.
6. Go to garage sales on Fridays with happy, pleasant, non-whiney children. (Anybody know where I can get some of those?)
7. Have more playdates with Deb, Noah, and Addison.
8. Keep using my Crock Pot at least twice a week.
9. Go on a date (probably with my husband.)
10. Back all of my pictures up on CD when HP Slimine gets back (if the pics are still there.)
11. Paint the neglected, faded shutters on the house.
12. Read the 5 books from this list that I haven't yet read.
13. Get my daughter off the paci. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

It is so very satisfying to cross things off a list, isn't it? I am MUY excited to share pics from item #3. I have a couple more finishing touches to do, then I will post all about the dining room makeover.

I am working on reading the books from #12. I will get those done for sure, it's just a matter of getting the books finished. Just about the only reading time I have is right before bed and I often fall asleep before I get much reading done! Then I get sidetracked with other books. I am getting ready to start Blood Orange by Drusilla Campbell, then I will read The Dive from Clausen's Pier by Ann Packer.

Getting my daughter off the paci was one of the biggest accomplishments to date. She was a paci addict so going cold turkey was scary, but it worked. She hasn't asked for it in several days. I am glad that is over and done with. (And for all of you wondering, I did throw them all out just last week. Not a paci is left in the house...that I know of!)

I think I will work on item #11 this week. I am not going to get real involved and take the shutters down. I will just slap a fresh coat of paint on them and call it done.

The other items...eh. We'll see if they get finished. The most important ones (to me) have been done so I am happy.

How about you? Is there one thing you are hoping to get done this summer?

Lofty goals--good job--I, too, set acouple goals for myself.
1. Get an external hard drive and put our music library on it because it was eating up all my memory. DH had downloaded 17,000plus songs onto my computer. DONE
2. Use my crockpot/grill at least 3times a week. IN PROGRESS
3. Clean our family room.Since I can't climb a ladder anymore, I had my daughter-in-law come over and help me. She was great! DONE
4. Can from our garden until every jar we have is full! Maybe buy more jars!!! Still planning to when the garden is ready. Today I made 8 half pints of jam( black raspberry-blueberry )
Hope the rest of your summer is just as productive for you!

Oh, my list is neverending. I need to:
1. get the carpets cleaned
2. finish Noah's name sign
3. hang Addi's pictures
4. hang valances
5. finish toy box
6. paint table and chairs
7. clean out garage for my car!
8. deep clean the master bathroom
9. isn't this a long list?
10.the major problem is that 3,4,5, and 7 involve the husband. You know how that goes!

Wow! You have been VERY productive. The paci thing is the biggest, in my mind, too! Way to go.

I'm hoping to get a class (correspondence) done before August. Other than that, I'm just trying to relax and enjoy my summer break from school.

Lots of listing going on in blogger world tonight! I love it!!! My lists are never done and always ongoing. I did get the kittens shots last week though. That was a big "check" on my list.

If I could just get the kids to the dentist, I will have conquered the world.

Congratulations on making a good inroad into the list.

My aim is to get something done about the total disaster that is my spare bedroom. It's where all the packed boxes are, the boxes that are in the process of being packed and the stuff that is waiting to be packed.

We had a seies of earthquakes in Feb and one of them caused a bit of a box slide...

The last two days I have got as far as going to the door and looking in, so I'm getting closer!!

Be careful on the shutters. I had some that I did not take down and since I am TERRIFIED of heights I tied a rope around me and then around my daughters huge bed and hung out the window to do it. I then had a friend come over and talk to me about anything and everything so I was distracted while I painted. It was horrible and then so satisfying when I was done. But lofty goals and good for you to get so many done!!!

Good for you!

I just want to finish painting a few doors in the house. They lack one more coat of paint. I just can't find the energy to do it!

I also want to finish my daughter's doll house. I have all the wood for it. I just need to put it all together and paint it and decorate it....man, I have a lot to do!

Those are quite the accomplishments! Don't you find list-making helpful? I think I'd be lost without it. I always make a rolling "weekly to-do" list every Monday or Tuesday. If I find myself idle, bored, or frustrated with the baby I pull it out and find something to tackle.

As far as things to do, I'd LOVE to paint our hallway and foyer. It's just a matter of money and finding a ladder, because our foyer is very tall and includes stairs. We also need to install a couple of fans. If those actually would get done I'd be in hog heaven.

Bravo for your productivity!

I want to finish painting. I've got the office done, we've lived here one year this month and I still need to finish painting. My bedroom/bathroom, the hallway, the hall bathroom and the boys' bathroom upstairs are all in desperate need of paint...I hate white walls, LOL

I'd love to get ALL of my pictures off of the computer and onto discs.

I want to landscape the yard.

OYE....if I can get ONE of these done, I'd be happy:) LOL

Thanks for sharing your lists! I love making lists and crossing them off. It sounds like you do too! I think posting my list has helped me get things accomplished a little faster. You might try it!

Cupcake-Could we trade lists please? Just for a week?

Doesn't it feel good to cross things off?

ohh, good job on getting so much done!! The only thing that we were planning on doing is switching out the bedrooms and that started today - so hopefully in the next month we can paint and hang pictures (who am I kidding - hopefully hubby can!)
