WFMW

Each week I get several hits from people looking for a John Deere tractor cake. I feel it is my duty to give what the people want.

A couple of years ago, my mom bought this cake pan. (And if you are here as a lover of all that is John Deere...you must visit this website. They have sunglasses, clothes, hats, home decor, toys, even a John Deere stroller. No, it's not as tacky as it sounds. It's quite cute, actually.)
The first cake my mom made was this one. She baked a tractor cake and placed it on a regular sheet cake. Cute, no?

The next tractor cake was for the Boy's 4th birthday. This time my mom used fondant (very fancy) and constructed a hay wagon full of round bales. The wagon was actually a piece of wood. The bales were coconut covered marshmallows. The wheels were mini chocolate doughnuts. She even made chocolate animals out of molds. However, now Rungreen sells chocolate tractors and animals! Shhhh...don't tell Tractor Boy!

So, why is this a Works for Me Wednesday post? Because I said so, that's why. What works for me? My mom, my mom's tractor cake pan, and this website. Any questions?

Um ... are you TRYING to make those of us in the "call the ice cream parlor and order a cake" club feel worse about ourselves?

Am I the only lazy person in the world?

Don't answer that. I'm too lazy to think about it.

Holy crap! I was all about the cake, but you, you take the cake. I've got a 16th birthday cake to come up with...but I don't think Prep is going to want a tractor. OMG. I am speechless.

Awww...that is sooo awesome! I have to admit...I'm a lover of John Deere things too. My Dad is so I grew up liking the things he likes. Sometimes I buy Zander John Deere things so my Dad can play with them too! ;)

Your mom did an AWESOME job on those cakes. Is she available in November to make Zander one?

Check out my blog later on this afternoon (although you can now if you want to also);)....I'm going to post some tips on changing blog templates since a couple of people asked. I'll tell my secrets of how I cheat....

That is just spectacular! I used to work in a very rural school, and I have a whole gaggle of former students who would absolutely LOVE to have a cake like that. (FFA was HUGE in our school.)

Thanks, everybody! Although I can't take any credit whatsoever. I don't even think I took the pictures! HA! But hopefully when people search for John Deere tractor cakes, they will find what they are looking for.
BTW, today someone wound up on my site today by searching for "stalking the wild she beast." WTH?! Freaky!

Ohh, what great cakes... If only my mom and I could bake. Then again - the fact that I can't bake works for me because I get to just go out and buy a cake!

Why did you have to share that website? I went and looked and now I must buy things for my son, my hubby and my in-laws. My hubby and my in-laws are just a tad bit in love with John Deere so this is NOT good..lol. I loved your moms cakes! I think we may do john deere theme either next year (his 3rd) or the next. I have bookmarked the page - thanks!
